Jacob, Mother (if you believe her), and M.I.B. are all sympathetic characters. The island is good, but it requires people to commit immoral acts on its behalf. The people seeking to destroy/exploit the island do so out of ignorance and/or psychological damage. The corked evil is nebulous. We viewers know and feel nothing for this "evil" that may be unleashed.

I long for some Star Wars style clarity. Doesn't look like we're going to get it.fieldrunner90https://www.blogger.com/profile/17021576739920753814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-456037651884535809.post-9207577432017394832010-05-18T13:58:26.019-07:002010-05-18T13:58:26.019-07:00yes, the concept of the cave is really hard to get...yes, the concept of the cave is really hard to get behind, though with the cabin and the lighthouse, the show has build precedence for structures that are only visible to certain people. plus we've been seeing evidence of the light's powers all through the show - really its just the first time that the show has directly addressed 'the thing' that's making everything 'go.' i hear tell that the show will deal with it further now that the concept has been introduced..joelaruenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-456037651884535809.post-2290956367505306152010-05-18T13:09:32.955-07:002010-05-18T13:09:32.955-07:00Wow.... I hated the same things almost exactly, I was hoping it was just me.

I didn't have as big a problem with the look of the light cave, as much as I did the concept of the light cave... shouldn't one of the candidates have seen it or something at some point before it just appears as the most important thing on the whole island??? I guess you could argue the light was seen before... but so much more subtle as to not be in the same league.... I don't know. I'm having a hard time processing this one.Burritoclockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14374448569322397824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-456037651884535809.post-63482406774739408182010-05-17T22:02:04.710-07:002010-05-17T22:02:04.710-07:00Thanks for the time line. That said, I've been watching this damn show for half a decade and I just couldn't see giving up on it with only a few more hours to go. There's so much more to the story than what was presented in this episode. I am happy to take it for what it was (and there were answers there!) and think of it as a bolster for the finale.

I do have to agree that, although I love Allison Janney, I am always up for more "otherness," or just plain ethnic ambiguity on TV. I'm biased like that.Sunny Gironhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01753013605441922666noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-456037651884535809.post-14335891634497458692010-05-17T19:51:55.645-07:002010-05-17T19:51:55.645-07:00This is one of your best posts, Joe.
